I’m a fly on the wall

A week ago I spent two days with the Norwegian band John Olav Nilsen & Gjengen as they wrapped up their Norwegian Tour with concerts in Drammen and Oslo.  And of course, what I was doing was photographing. But what a great time I had photographing. I really love the music, lyrics and the energy of the band. If I didn’t, I would probably never been photographing them.

To me it is really important to do work and projects that I have faith in and that I enjoy doing. It makes better photographs and any project a photographer does, he or she has to do it with passion. John Olav Nilsen & Gjengen is a project that I am very keen to pursuit over a long period of time. The passion is there. Now, I just need the time and opportunities to do what I want to do, and not the least, what a band of this quality deserves. So hopefully, I’ll have a lot of “gigs” together with Gjengen in the future.

And a last note in this post: the guys in the band are really cool. As far as I am concerned, they have no problems letting me stay around as a fly on the wall. At least they have not told me so yet…

The pics in this post are from their concert at Union scene in Drammen, onstage and backstage.
